CM workshops question

Hi there ... Just have a quick question for those who go to CM workshops ....

Does everyone who is there only work on/with CM supplies? I am considering going to a workshop tomorrow, but don't have a CM album to work on (and don't wish to purchase one at this time). Is that "uncool" ... should I feel obligated to buy one ... or do the consultants not really care what supplies you use ...

TIA

I have only been 2 a few crops with 2 different CM consultants. One is REALLY against "contraband" and I don't know about the other one. I don't take anything with me that's not CM but I would definitely ask to see what the consultant thinks about it. Of course, they want to make that sale!

Mel, remember when we went and you weren't planning to buy an album? I really like their albums. The pages are so sturdy!

Mine did not really care, but then I saw how great they were and there is actually a lifetime warranty on them. I would not use anything else now.

I remember, and the last one that I went to that you could not go to, there was a lady there that was using non CM tools. No one snubbed their noses.

my consultant when i first got hooked up was great and didn't pressure me at all...she didn't care what 'contraband' i carried in with me and i had never met her prior...i think it's a personality thing...some are grateful to accept potential clients as well as confirmed clients. i ended up buying a bunch of stuff off her later on and never did work on a CM album while in her presence! i also gathered my friends around and they ended up purchasing everything in sight! lol you never can tell where a sale is going to come from so i say be nice to all!!!

Donna and her continuing 2cents...lol

If she is a good consultant that wants your business, she should not care. I have a whole group of friends and family that scrap with a whole assortment of supplies, CM and others too. We always bring whatever we want to the workshops. I have used 3 different consultants on many occasions and none of them have ever objected.. I feel that if they want my business they had better accept my "other" supplies. I definetly would not feel obligated to purchase anything. You are PAYING for a workshop to learn, scrap with others, and the opportunity to buy things from CM. Now I know that the consultants would prefer that you would only use their supplies, etc. but for most people that is out of the question. I just don't go around shoving my "other" supplies under people's noses, etc. while I am there. I do definetly prefer CM albums to others, but that is just my opinion.

Just my 2 cents....

I'm no help at all on this. I've never even met a CM consultant in person, just the ones I've met on this group. Peggy

as past CMC I will say that the company is changing their message about non-CM products from what I hvae heard. And I will agree with everyone that it depends on teh consultant. My first consultant in MI who recruited me was CM only my current consultant just wants to support your scrappbooking. It takes all kinds- so find a consultant that you are comfortable with. You can go to Creativememories.com for a company referal.

Update: I went and had a great time :) I got 3 LOs done ... no one said anything about the album or anything ...

I have uploaded them to my webshots account under family :) The pages I did are: sister-in-law's wedding, and Hallowe'en 2002.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Nice LO's.

I really liked the flower photo corners from your SIL's wedding.

So, did you break the bank on your CM class? =)

On my first one I spent over $100 all based on what the consultant told me was "what I *absolutely* needed". DH almost passed out, but all products I got were really useful.

My first CM class I knew before hand I really wanted to get into it and preserve my photos. Like you I got only what the Consultant said I needed and it was over $100. And you know she was right. Yes, my husband about fainted too. I just got a friend started last Friday and I really tried to keep what she needed down to a minimum, because she can scrap with me (well she probably won't any other time). I figured she could use a lot of my tools that aren't used a lot and still it went over $100.

I found out though after the initial shock I really didn't need to buy anything for a very long time. And then it was just piddly things like paper and stickers.

Why my post is not showing from the other day i do not know, but yeah I remember that crop getting me hooked. The last one I went to that I just stopped by before work I spent over $100 dollars. I got the Jazzy patterns though for filling my card. Wooooohoooo!

You go girl!! The weekend before the one at Jennifer's house, I went to my previous CM consultant and finished up the card I had with her (and started another one). I only had to spend $25 to fill it up and I think I spent $60. I got the dies cuts and stickers in the long purple pack. They are so neat!
