I'm on a scrapbook treasure hunt

14 of the Tampa Bay scrapbook stores got together and put together a Treasure Hunt. So far my friend and I have gove to 6 of the 14. Tomorrow we are doing 4 more and the day after that another 4 to complete the hunt. It cost $5 to enter for which we got a tote, a 6x6 black Karen Foster album, some beads with a tag on it to wear to identify us as treasure hunters and a passport. We have to go to each of the 14 stores where we get a make and take, usually a 6x6 page and some goodies. We also have to spend at least $5 in each store, but anything we decide to buy is 10% off. Some of the stores are totally awesome and others are not really worth the drive, but it's fun to get to visit so many stores. I think all told we will have driven 350 miles to complete the hunt, but what fun we are having.

Anyhow, I thought I'd share in case any of you want to suggest one to your LSS. BTW they made up 500 totes and sold out on the first day they were up for sale!

That sounds like a lot of fun. And $5.00 isn't to bad to have to spend at each store.

Boy how I wish Scrapping was popular here as it is elsewhere as I'd play.

I did a Quilting Treasure Hunt a few years ago. I think a Scrapbook Treasure hunt would be really a lot of fun.

Now that sounds like fun and the price isn't bad either. It also is a great way to check out the stores.

Sounds like a blast! I'd have trouble only spending 5 dollars! Barb:o)

You and me both! It's particularly hard at the good stores and there are a few of those out in the 14!

Day 2 was me alone doing only 1 store in Bradenton that my friend will do last.

Day 3 was today and we did another 4 stores! We left at 9:30 and got back at 4:45. The best was Violettes in Lakeland which is between Tampa and Orlando. They have tons of beautiful samples, great products both scrapbook and stamping. It's only about 40 minutes from here so I'm pretty sure that they will see us again. Tomorrow we go to our last 4 stores, 3 of which I shop at regularly.

After that we will have to wait to see who wins the $700 shopping spree.

499 took part, (there were 500 but my friend bought 2 bags, unfortunately her daughter could not make it), but who knows how many finished. It would seem that many did. At any rate today was alot of fun!

Can't wait to hit all those nice stores tomorrow!

I was trying to figure this out just reading the title in my email, but then had connection problems again somehow my PC doesn't connect wirelessly so I gotta go stand in the hallway connect the cable to my PC then it works. Umm can't do this when DH is home though.

Now I've got a few emails to go back through to read.

Sounds like fun, also another way of all the scrapbooking stores of not being jealous of one another shopping in different stores...like there really losing sales when you shop somewhere else.

Sometimes I think lots of the LSS just have different items, some of the same things too. I f you don't go shopping elsewhere sometimes you'll never know what goodies you may find.

I know spending $5.00 in each one I'd probably spend more than that.

I buy alot of stuff but also use my COMMERCE VISA for just about everything, just checked my point balance I have enough to get a $15 Cash Value Award which is 7,500 points. Money put back on my card to spend again to get more points. This is the only good thing about buying DH beer/cigarettes.

Well the treasure hunt is over and as soon as I can..I know I haven't even posted my travel album yet, I'll finish the treasure hunt album and post it as well! I've also completed a number of layouts for my SIL's wedding album, so there will be a few things to see!

The tresure hunt was fun. I did most of it with my friend and scrap partner Janie. Tomorrow is my crop so I'm trying to get this house back into some sort of order! Now cross your fingers that I actually win one of the prizes! Not that I really need $750 in scrapbooking supplies, LOL, but who ever has enough supplies anyways! There are some stores that I'm not sure I could spend $50 in, they were hard enough to buy $5 in, but there are others I am sure I could spend the whole amount in. However the way the prizes work, each store gives you a $50 gift certificate, which means driving the

400+ miles all over again!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Your treasure hunt sounds like so much fun! I wish the LSS's here would do something like that. There's several LSS in the area I haven't been to, and a treasure hunt like this would certainly get me to go there. LOL $750 in supplies???? Wow! Umm....where would you put them? *ducks flying combat boots*
