Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 3.0

I am considering purchasing Art Explosion Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 3.0, but have some questions.

First though, I should explain that I already own layouts programs such as PrintMaster and PageMaker. I also own photo editors such as PhotoShop. Thus, while I'd like to have some layout control and some built-in photo-editing capabilities, I am more looking for a program that is strong on ease of use and automation. For example:

LAYOUT

  1. How does one place photos into the layout?

  1. Once photos have been placed into the layout, are those photos automatically repositioned if a different layout is chosen? Or does choosing a new layout mean starting over from scratch?

PHOTOS

  1. Can placed photos be resized, cropped, and otherwise manipulated?

  1. Can one select borders, frames, or shapes for photos that the program will then automatically apply?

TEXT

  1. Is it easy to manage large amounts of text?

  1. Is the text output of high quality?

Those are the questions that I have so far, but any other feedback on this software would be welcome. Thanks!

Welcome to RCS! I've never used this software, so I'm afraid I can't help you there. I so know we have digital scrappers in here, so I'm sure they'll be able to answer your questions.

I have version 1.0 of this program. I don't use it much, basically because I don't have a very good printer. Also I really don't like most of the clip art in the program and wouldn't use it on my pages.

LAYOUT

  1. How does one place photos into the layout? You use the insert graphics tab. It is just like inserting a photo in any other program.
  2. Once photos have been placed into the layout, are those photos automatically repositioned if a different layout is chosen? Or does choosing a new layout mean starting over from scratch? They will stay with the layout unless you save it and open a new one, then you have to insert the pictures again.

PHOTOS

  1. Can placed photos be resized, cropped, and otherwise manipulated? You can do some editing in the program as well as cropping and resizing.
  2. Can one select borders, frames, or shapes for photos that the program will then automatically apply? You can shape the photos and there are frames that you can apply to the photo.

TEXT

  1. Is it easy to manage large amounts of text? Hopefully they have improved the way you enter text in the later versions. It done in text boxes and it is very hard to get them all with the same font size. It works like a poor version of MS Publisher.
  2. Is the text output of high quality? Not sure what you mean by hight quality. You can use any of the fonts that come with the program or any that you already have on your computer.

If I were you, I would use the PageMaker or PhotoShop that seems to be the one that most digital scrapbookers use.

Hope this helps you.
