Scrapbook journaling question

As I was scrapping tonight and a recurrent question came up with my journaling. Since I'm doing baby pictures and my babies are teenagers... I usually try and do the journaling as if I did it right when the pictures were taken. Sometimes though I have insight or info that goes with the baby pictures that is current information. I wondered if I should keep to the date the pictures were taken or add the now information?

For instance.... my pictures were of my 5 month old daughter in a pink dress. Now my daughter is 13 and wears camouflage boy shorts with t-shirts. She saw the pictures and was kind of mad I put her in a pink dress as she hates pink and dresses. At the time I didn't know her style, but as her own mind developed I let her develop her own style. I put that current story with the layout. I'm still vacillating on whether I should change it to reflect the time the pictures were taken and take the current commentary off.

Lynne,

I would add both the then and now journaling. I think it would be easier to just let your memories and thoughts flow when writing rather than try to "stop" them at a certain point.

You never know, when she hits 16 you may be scrapping pictures of her again in pink dresses and girly bling!

how about a now and then type layouts. that should cover you and make her happy and you happy. Or how about you do the layout of her in pink and then have her help you do a layout of her now in all her glory and she can help with the journalling as to why she likes to dress the way she doesn.

just an idea.

I was going to suggest what Kate did, a now and then layout. You can do a two page spread one of her baby pictures and one of her down and then the journaling would go great with the layout. Journaling is always a tricky thing for me. Hope that helps. Let us know what you decide.

I do the same debating, Lynne. I try to keep with the memories of the baby pictures, but when things pop up where I add insight to how the child is now, I simply add a date to the bottom of the journaling. That way others know a timeframe of the current insight, etc. Hope that makes sense!
