Scrapper on the Go!

Am I the only one who does this?

An hour at gymnastics or dance class? No problem, put the crop-n-style bag in the trunk. I sit & scrap while DS tumbles or DD stomps. People often stop to look, ask questions, but usually tell me that it is a good way to spend the hour.

I never scrap at home any more. I'm an on the go scrapper! Does this make me a SOG? *G* Are you?

No, I've been known to bring my briefcase to doctor's appointments.

It also is a good way to get the hobby some dialog going.

I usually bring my knitting along when I have to wait anyplace. I'm a spread em out kinda scrapper, so I don't think that would work for me:>)

I'm more like you Trish. I'd love to be that efficient - but I have to spread out to do my scrapping/cards. Yarn is much easier to just take along! :)

But for those of you who can be portable - good for you!

I take along whatever I happen to be working on.....though haven't done the scrapbook pages, although I do load up my bag and take it to work during the winter. (we don't have as much station work to do during the winter so I have more free time)

I do scrap sometimes at work, but in all fairness, I work at a scrapbook/craft store:>)

I tend to spread out a lot when I scrap, so I don't take things to work on. I did make some cards on the last plane trip I took. I had everything ready, just needed to put them all together. When DD was in gymnastics and dance classes years ago, I did take knitting or crocheting with me.

I always have a current book to read with me every time go to Dr. appointments. It seems that I get a lot of reading done that way.

You must have the dream job Trish! You get to see all the new stuff firsthand AND do what you love! Lucky girl!

I do love my job, can't deny that:>) I'd love to find another parttime job to compliment it though. Hours keep getting cut, & I find the winter very long if I don't have to go someplace:>)

I don't travel and scrap. I have a crop at my house once a month specifically so I don't have to travel. I know pretty selfish of me, but I make sure anyone who packs their stuff and comes to my house has a good time. I teach new techniques. I share new products I've found. If someone calls ahead I'll even provide them dinner if they don't have time to feed themselves. I also serve contails Bahama Mamas during the summer and Kahlua and cream in the winter or whatever new cool drink comes to mind.

I have seen people who do travel with scrapbooking. Even one lady was at a soccer game scrapping on the sidelines. Her paper was blowing all around, her sweaty daughter put a dirty hand print on a piece of paper (accidently) and then the water bottle got spilled on the stickers. So, what I was thinking was a good idea turned into a what not to do very quickly. I think indoor traveling scrapping would work out great though.

You are the second person who works at a scrapbook store that gets to scrap at work. I need to have a discussion with my boss!

Usually when I scrapbook there, I use their stuff & leave the LO's there on display. I also knit, or bead ,cross stitch, or whatever there's time to do. Tonight, I didn't get to do anything. Had to do a bead order in between all the people in the aisles!:>)

Oh well, I'll have to finish that on Sunday & then I get to start a scrapbook order:>)

Have not tried it yet, but I don't think I will be able to! I like to have LOTS of space...and everything at hand! Always been like that, even when I was studying. Could only do it at my desk and everything neat and in it's place - crazy - I know!

Amy...you sound so organised! I use a Costco table to scrap on and it is littered with stuff from my scrapping & card making. I doubt I could work in an organised fashion....LOL....I need to spread out!

Take care, Marilyn

I don't think I'm organized enough to scrap on the go. LOL I may start out with one thing in mind, and half way through change my mind. But I've been known to take cross-stitch or a book with me. I tried taking stamping with me once, but it didn't work out the way I planned. LOL

When we went to Orlando for a week I took a basic scrapbooking kit with me and sat there making cards in the mornings... but that was in our own room, not in a doctor's office or whatever. I don't think it'd work to take that around with me because it needs a certain amount of space to spread out! I used to carry a small cross-stitch kit around with me in my handbag so I could do it a little at a time... now of course you can't take anything sharp on an aeroplane, which cut needlecrafts out of the picture. So I changed my mobile craft kit to colouring in, because however paranoid the security people were they weren't going to take away a bag of pens! I'd take a little bag of gelpens and a packet of printed out clipart to colour in - then I could use the coloured clipart on cards. And one time when I was out and knew I had to spend three hours in the library before someone could come and pick me up, I popped into the craft store and bought myself a very basic cardmaking kit - I seem to remember that I bought a pad of coloured paper, a pair of craft scissors, a baby-sized gluestick, a packet of textas and some pretty stickers - and then I sat there in the library making cards all afternoon!
