Sizzix vs Quikcutz

There are pros and cons to each. I have the Sizzix machine and a few dies as they go on sale. You can pick one up for about 69.00 and the dies go on sale from time to time. It isn't transportable because it is so heavy but I find that if you scrap at LSS or at friend's homes they usually have one. Now with the Sizzlet dies you can purchase an uppercase and lower case and I think numbers for 125.00. It's also easy to use. The QK on the other hand is transportable, also has more of a variety on fonts but to me the price is outrageous. I think eventually they will have to come down, since the Sizzlets came out. When I went to Cal, and Nev the 6 SB stores I went to did not carry it and my LSS doesn't either. Also, if you're cutting out a lot of letters I think your hands would get tired of the constant squeezing. Anyway, that is my take for whatever its worth.

Well, I don't know anything about the QC but I do love my Sizzix and I have had it for over a year now. By the way...Michaels has a 50% off coupon for today only!!! 10/13 I get most all of my dies with the coupons and I have both the shadow and lolipop alphabets. I use them constantly. They are so much easier than any other way to "write" . I have quite a few dies and Ikeep them in one of those three drawer plastic carts..with my Sizzix on the top. I put the machine on a sturdier table to use ,but I love having all of my stuff in one place and just roll it out of the way when not in use. It is easy to use, I even have one of my little friends cut me a lot of letters when he and his Mom come to visit. It keeps him busy and happy and helps me !

Thank you to all who have provided me with info on Sizzix/Quickutz. I absolutely can not decide which way to go. First I thought Sizzix, then I thought Quickutz for sure, and now I think I am leaning towards Sizzix again.

Has anyone had success cutting things other than paper with the Sizix machine? I have heard you can cut foam, felt, fabric, cork board, etc. Does it work well.

Do you ever have to worry about the dies getting dull, or will they just keep producing crafts forever.

I am starting to think that it will be a long term investment, and I can collect the dies slowly over time. Then I can use it for SBing, but also for crafts with the kids and other things too.

I have not seen the Sizzlets yet, and would be interested in a demo when they are out, I think it was supposed to be this month or next.

I am also interested to see the Quikutz in action, but have not been able to locate it at any of our local SB stores.

Well, for now I am still on the fence. I missed getting the Sizzix with the

50% off at Michaels this weekend, but oh well, there will be another one. . .

I cut everything with my Sizzix... foam, fabric... whatever I can cut I will! Also I like that the dies come in different sizes. I was interested in the Quickutz too but I already had Sizzix... when I found out you can use the dies in the Sizzix maching, I figured why buy another maching. Tara

Tara,

Please forgive me for asking because I know that you have explained this before, but how do you use the Quickutz dies in the Sizzix, is it the # of shims that you use? Is is easy to use other dies, or quite a challenge? Do you have many of the Quickutz dies yourself that you use with your Sizzim machine? What about any other brand of dies? Please let me know when you get a chance, thanks esther.

I use 3 shims to use quickutz in my Sizzix... it's easy and alot cheaper then buying another maching. BUT when you get the new adaptor that is coming out for the Sizzix, you will not need the extra shims. It fits the quickutz easily. I have 7 or 8 quickutz dies. I have used them on cardstock and foam. Hope this helps!

I have a Sizzix and I love it. It's easy to cut with. I have used it for cutting out craft foam and works great for that! It cuts the foam like it was butter. I've never tried fabric, felt, or corkboard. Barbara
