Stealth shopping and addiction

Okay, I believe the sizzix die cuts are WAY expensive and I've been continuously trying to talk myself out of wanting one for months and months and months. I've never used any of these items but after reading your posts/raves/praises I thought about them constantly. (I think I've mentioned in past posts I obsess on things). I kept trying to satisfy my craving (obsession) with self-talk that alphabet stamps and stickers are just fine and more cost effective.

I use my debit card for every purchase I make and I rarely have cash but for the last six months every time I'd find myself with $5.00 cash I'd stash it away.

My husband never complains about the money I spend on my hobby but I think he would start to complain very LOUDLY if he saw the price of ONE alphabet font set.

Well, I finally caved and gave in to my obsession. Last night I gathered my secret stash of cash and went to Michael's. I purchased the SideKick at 40% off and bought one of the on sale alpha font sets PLUS a Xyron X and a refill.

And now I know for certain that I'm an addict because I stopped by the grocery store on my way home from Michaels and when the cashier asked, "Paper or plastic" I had her put my groceries in paper and give me an extra bag so I could disguise my Michaels purchase in a Fred Myer bag and carry the stuff in without being noticed!

I do not want my husband to have any clue how much I spent on the sizzlits because I don't want him to become unsupportive of my hobby.

$55.00!!!???!!! That's an AWESOME deal Lacey! I'll have to check out Ebay for future font purchases. I think my husband could handle that price! :-)

Of course when he sees my SideKick and inquires about it, I'll play the, "this old thing?" card.

You should have been my sister. You are just like me. I get stuff on my lunch hour. Stick it in the bag I carry back and forth to work. Then when he's not in the room or outside, I take it out and put it with my other stuff so that he doesn't know. I tend to do that with clothes too, but not as much any more. Now it's the scrapbook stuff. I have gotten so much in this last year. And that's all I've been scrapping. I need to get a room to organize it all.

I have the sizzix. I haven't gotten any alpha's though. I've been getting all of the other stuff like mittens, dolls, grass, etc. I have been getting precut letters out of sizzix in different colors on ebay. The only problem is I like different fonts and 75.00-150.00 is alot to buy for one font. I have been using the computer alot .

I got the lollipop upper case sizzix set on eBay a couple of years back for which I think I paid $45 for the set including shipping.

I'm with you that at retail they are awfully expensive. Have fun Marcia with your new toys.

You know when you are addicted to this board of enablers when you are in pitch black total darkness, wearing sun glasses only to post a few things, read the posts. When done headache sends me into the bathroom praying to the porcelain goddess. :-)

Hey Linda, You're right! Since he didn't hear the cha-ching of the cash register ringing up my purchases then in HIS world it didn't happen. I knew I could count on my RCS enablers to help me rid myself of guilt! :-)

Now Marcie, we would not call you anything BAD!! We will just help you out by calling you a helpless FLOOZY and/or FLASS!!!

After all, by agreed upon unspoken writs, we admit only to others that WE too MAY fall into one of those categories and are mighty proud of being ENABLERS!!!

Welcome to the real, err SCRAPPIN' WORLD!!

Here are some more valid lines at work... "My friend gave that to me at the crop" "I swapped one of my old for it in the scapbox"

Seriously, Marcia, I'm very happy for you. You'll have to tell us in 3 months how much you use it.

Lacey, you are awsome. I should send you my wish list and see what power shopping you can do for me! :-)

Take care!
