Two page LO uploaded

Hi folks...I have just uploaded a two page LO of my son & his friend kite boarding while on holiday earlier this year. He lives and works in Sri Lanka but I am not sure these photos were taken there, so I am awaiting his journalling to complete the pages. He holidayed in Vietnam & Cambodia so that may be the location.

The LO's are traditional pages Shannon. Cardstock was a Seaside Kit by Cloud 9 Design that I bought around the time I was starting to scrap (2003-4) and the only additional embellishment on the page is the two metal photo turns attached with brads. This kit was one of those 'must have' purchases I never got around to using...LOL The shells and sea creatures are all on the cardstock...although I did accent with a Anita's 3d Clear Gloss Finish.....similar to Glossy Accents. I also used this to create water ripples & droplets!

When my son sent me the CD of his photos recently, I immediately knew the supplies I was going to use for the kite boarding shots. He has just emailed me his journalling, which I have now added on vellum to match the smaller tags. The location was Mui ne Beach, Mui Ne, Vietnam. January 07. They spent 10 fun filled days there! Nice work Marilyn! What does your son do in Sri Lanka? Wherever the pictures were taken, it really looks like they had fun in a bautiful location!

M-C....Chris is a Production Manager for NEXT Sourcing, part NEXT Group plc and he works in their clothing manufacturing factories in Sri Lanka. He also travels extensively to India and Pakistan where they also have facilities and back to the UK every few months on business. He has been out in Colombo since July 2003 and got caught up in the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami, which was really scary for us. He arrived at the Galle Fort minutes before the first wave hit and his car was totalled. Any later and he would have been totalled also!

The photos used for these 2 pages were from 10 days he spent at Mui ne Beach, Mui Ne, Vietnam. January 07. I have other photos he sent from his 3 month holiday in Vietnam & Cambodia, so more layouts will follow. Watch this space! :o)

Thanks Kathy....this is sort of 'my' style of scrapping. I have done some digital scrapping, so I guess that also influences the way I proceed with traditional LO's. I feel if there is too many things going on in the page it just detracts from the photos. That is also why I usually have hidden journalling on tags or behind photos. I also find a lot of the modern scrapping offends my eye...just too much going on! I am sure it is an age thing but it reminds me of the psychedelia of the 1960's. Didn't like that either.....LOL

Thanks Crystal....Chris is pretty OTT with everything and he loves to travel in hot sunny locations. Being able to work in Sri Lanka is a huge bonus as it gives him the opportunity to travel in the Far East. His early years were spent in Western Australia, so I guess that turned him into a sun worshipper. The UK doesn't suit him much...too temperate a climate.

I'm glad everyone got out of the Tsunami alive. Cars can be replaced, lives not so much.

Great LO's, Marilyn! Love the way you cut into the paper to use it as embellishments over the mats. Doesn't it feel great to be able to pull out something from our stash that has been waiting for just the right photos? Thanks for sharing. Sandy

Thanks Sandy. The frames were a part of this Seaside range...I just cut out the centres to cover the photos. I thought it would look better than just applying the photo to the photo mat. I also cut around the Starfish and shells to slot the photos behind. I like the effect and I have used it on several LO's.
