I am shopping for clear stamps on eBay, and have run into some that are called "alpha boosters". What is that? They look like alphas to me.

Can you share a link, Rach?
Took me a minute to find them again, but here is one set.
Booster usually means an add on to another set. So, if you have the first set the booster set will expand your possibilities. Stampin' Up had something similar years ago. I had the first set, bought the booster set and had the possibility for 6 more different sets of alphabets. Of course they are not clear and hard a he** to use. haha

Rach it looks to me like if you already have a set like that, these are additional letters to add to it,so that you can put together words that have multiples of the same letter, like the word "book". you would normally have to use the one "o" stamp twice, but if you have the booster set, you can do the whole word all at once. Sounds like a cool idea!

You know what I wish, that there was a stamping company that like Top Line Creations didn't have a no-compete clause! Stampin-Up does, I'm not sure about CTMH. I love collecting stamps, LOL... I don't use them much, ask Deb and Kenda!
Thanks Rach, seems like your question has been answered!
