What's on Your SB Xmas Wish List?

Oct 19, 2006 39 Replies

I'm always curious about what people are drooling over so I actually get to ask this question every year about this time! So tell us, what itemS are on your wish list this year? Please do try to answer the following questions:

What item is so expensive that even though you'd love to have it, you just don't dare tell anyone that you want it?

What item is really cheap to buy, but you still always put off buying it?

Of the handmade things you've seen on the internet, (a link to a picture of it would be wonderful to share with us) which one would you like to receive as a gift?

What item or items do you use a lot of and are always running out of?

When you are in a scrapbook store, which section of the store are you most likely to spend time in? Paper (Dave doesn't have to answer this question). embellishments, newest Arrivals, cardstock, baby, travel, wedding etc.

What else would you like to tell us about the kind of scrapbook items make your little heart pitter patter?

Answers bellow:

- What item is so expensive that even though you'd love to have it, you just don't dare tell anyone that you want it? Perhaps once I'm settled in a house knowing I'll stay there for more than a year or 2 I can get one of those murphy beds that turn into a table for the guest room. That will give be even more room to scrap, or sew and still allow for a nice bed for guests! In the same vein, I'd love to have a whole wall of custom made, built in cabinets that would specifically meet all my craft needs! I can already see it in my hear, LOL!

- What item is really cheap to buy, but you still always put off buying it? Replacement mats for my cutterpede

- Of the handmade things you've seen on the internet, (a link to a picture of it would be wonderful to share with us) which one would you like to receive as a gift? Have you seen Olivia's torn critters on Ebay? I just love them, but mine just don't ever look as cute, so none have made it onto a page! I also really love beautifully made paper piecings.

What item or items do you use a lot of and are always running out of: My Tombow permanent tape runner.

When you are in a scrapbook store, which section of the store are you most likely to spend time in? I'm definitely a what is new gal.

What else would you like to tell us about the kind of scrapbook items make your little heart pitter patter? There is no such thing as too much ribbon, or too many brads. I just love the Tombow pens. I recently got the fall colored ones at Joann's on sale. They are just fabulous.

Oups I forgot the link to Olivia... hope this works!

Queen Bee Craft Scissors... I had them on my gift list last year thinking my husband's family would get them for me and surprise surprise they picked the most expensive gift on the list to give for the first time in 19 years of marriage. I totally understand their fugal ways afterall I'm just "Ed's wife." ;) Little do they know I would have been just as happy with the Queen Bee scissors. Shhhh we won't tell them. I still haven't gone out and gotten them myself. I may just wait and put them back on my gift list for this year.

Lynne

I had to laugh at that! It must just take your in-laws a long time to feel the connection... a long, long time!

But now, what about answering the rest of the questions?

M-C

I want a wide format printer and scanner but I don't shy away from telling my family that this is what I want......but they never buy it for me ;o(

I want one of those adhesive guns like Ana Caberro has. I also want more memory for my pc which isn't really cheap but it is not all that expensive either.

> Have you seen Olivia's torn critters on Ebay? I just love them, but mine > just don't ever look as cute, so none have made it onto a page! I also > really love beautifully made paper piecings. > Yes I have seen them and the prices that they go for.

Those little white photo squares. I stock up when they are on sale but I use them for everything so I go through them fast.

Paper and cardstock

I love cardstock especially textured or embossed in bright colors.

What item is so expensive that even though you'd love to have it, you just don't dare tell anyone that you want it? I would love to have a room just for scrapbooking that has perfect furniture for storing all my paper and bits and pieces. At the moment my desk is the place for scrapbooking and study books. The two distract each other very much!!

What item is really cheap to buy, but you still always put off buying it? I've always wanted to use fake flowers in a layout, but never have bought any!

Of the handmade things you've seen on the internet, (a link to a picture of it would be wonderful to share with us) which one would you like to receive as a gift? I don't use the internet much when looking for handmade crafty things..

What item or items do you use a lot of and are always running out of? Double sided sticky tape, lettering stickers, and gold ribbon

When you are in a scrapbook store, which section of the store are you most likely to spend time in? Paper (Dave doesn't have to answer this question). embellishments, newest Arrivals, cardstock, baby, travel, wedding etc. Paper and ribbon, trying to imagine how to match the two is always fun :)

What else would you like to tell us about the kind of scrapbook items make your little heart pitter patter? Anything that is really cute or pink.

Laura

Ooo...good questions MC! (You must be less medicated then. LOL) *ducks any flying combat boots*

  1. What item is so expensive that even though you'd love to have it, you just don't dare tell anyone that you want it?

To have my workshop in the backyard ready for me to move in. :-) I want to have a professional or two look at it, but we're pretty sure it just needs to be completely torn down and a new one built. That would be the most wonderful gift I could ever have! I'm just too scared at how much it would cost. LOL

  1. What item is really cheap to buy, but you still always put off buying it?

The Xyron X thingy. I had eyed it for quite a long time, and finally got one a couple months ago. I guess that doesn't count then, does it? Umm....then the answer has to be ribbon. I love pretty ribbon, but just keep putting it off!

  1. Of the handmade things you've seen on the internet, (a link to a picture of it would be wonderful to share with us) which one would you like to receive as a gift?

I don't know.

  1. What item or items do you use a lot of and are always running out of?

My Tombow permanent adhesive runners! I bought all 6 HL had a while back and just opened the last one today.

  1. When you are in a scrapbook store, which section of the store are you most likely to spend time in? Paper (Dave doesn't have to answer this question). embellishments, newest Arrivals, cardstock, baby, travel, wedding etc.

Does all over count? LOL Paper, brads & eyelets, alpha stickers

  1. What else would you like to tell us about the kind of scrapbook items make your little heart pitter patter?

Metal metal metal. LOL That and paper paper paper.

I was warned before I even married Ed by other in-laws that I'd never be considered family. That really came to light this summer as the family was discussing the family cabin and us wives were told that we weren't family and couldn't state an opinion. Have to say the fur started flying and the guys smoothed it over, but we all knew they hadn't changed their minds. Oh well.

Anyhow.... What item is so expensive that even though you'd love to have it, you just don't dare tell anyone that you want it? I'd say the Cricuit (sp?), but I would never tell DH cause I wouldn't want him spending the money on it.

What item is really cheap to buy, but you still always put off buying it? Queen Bee Scissors

Of the handmade things you've seen on the internet, (a link to a picture of it would be wonderful to share with us) which one would you like to receive as a gift? I still love the license plates even though I've made some myself. I'd still like to host a swap on this one. Maybe after the holidays.

What item or items do you use a lot of and are always running out of? I'd have to say for me and the way I'm always making things is solid color card stock.

When you are in a scrapbook store, which section of the store are you most likely to spend time in? Like M-C I'm in the new stuff and the tool section. I love to make my own embellishments whenever I can.

What else would you like to tell us about the kind of scrapbook items make your little heart pitter patter?

I'd have to say anything that looks hand made makes my heart go pitter patter. I love looking the examples in the store. I love "how to" books that will show me how to make something cool.

Good questions, M-C! Glad to hear you're feeling better!

A Cricut, or even a Wishblade. Or maybe a Bosscut. I can't make up my mind.

Darned little. I have absolutely no willpower in a scrapbook store.

I've been trying to learn to make paper flowers out of punched shapes, and would love to see a real "live" example. But the pictures are gorgeous.

as you can see here. I want mine to look this pretty. > What item or items do you use a lot of and are always running out of? Glue runners. And glue dots.

I usually start in tools and embellishments, then cover the whole store from there. I *love* to wander a scrapbook store.

Anything new!

Mel K

Do people really pay that much for a paper piecing?? I'm flabbergasted!!!!!!!!!

"M-C" Wrote::::: So tell us, what itemS are on your wish list this year?>

Time to myself to scrap some --- is that selfish or what!!!!!

A new hole punch

I would rather try my own I could not even WANT something so expensive

Glue -- mainly the xyron stuff

Its been so long since I could shop for items I think anything would be able to amaze me now :o)

A cricut.

Refills for my paper trimmer.

I haven't had time to look at anything lately online.

My Tombow--they need to make those things larger!

Lately it has been stamping stuff. I love embellishments too.

Time and a kid free zone would be great. Also, I asked DH this week to make a paper storage unit out of an old dresser he found on the side of the road. He has been watching Junk Brothers a little too much lately but has made a couple awesome things. Hopefully I will get some paper storage for Christmas. I already store the paper in vertically in the Cropper Hopper containers. A place to keep them all would be wonderful.

What item is so expensive that even though you'd love to have it, you just don't dare tell anyone that you want it?

***An addition to the house just for me - for my research and craft room. I would say cricut, but I already put the bug into my DD's ear - I have three grown children who could go together and buy it for me if they wanted to.

What item is really cheap to buy, but you still always put off buying it?

***a new 12" fiskars trimmer - less than $10 with a coupon

Of the handmade things you've seen on the internet, (a link to a picture of it would be wonderful to share with us) which one would you like to receive as a gift?

***I love gourd birdhouses, but can't paint a picture of anything.......

***adhesive - all kinds

When you are in a scrapbook store, which section of the store are you most likely to spend time in? Paper (Dave doesn't have to answer this question). embellishments, newest Arrivals, cardstock, baby, travel, wedding etc.

****The newest additions - my LSS know me well and direct me to the new items when I walk in the door

What else would you like to tell us about the kind of scrapbook items make your little heart pitter patter?

***handmade tags and title swaps

***mini albums with lots of embellishments

***packages in the mail - either ordered by me or given through NSSSF or SS or RAK with scrapbook items

That Cricut thing looks really fun! But I wouldn't use it often enough to make it worth the $$$!

I have always wanted some of those wedge-type ink pads, where there's lots of different colors of ink, but for some reason I just don't get them, even when I have coupons.

I just started collecting Stampin' Up rolling stamps (standard not jumbo

*yet* ;-) and only got black and white ink--I can already tell I need to get some more colored ink cartridges! :-)

I like those tri-corner punches, but always manage to use my coupons for more expensive things, like Xyron refills, etc.

Anything that's been altered-clip boards, paint buckets, mint tins, that sort of thing. They just turn out so doggone neat! :-)

Adhesive squares for vellum, and regular squares; xyron refills for the X sticker maker, versamark type ink for heat embossing (any brand)

Lately, in the stamping aisle, checking out heat embossing powder, dry embossing templates, different types of inkpads. I've got a ton of stamps over the years that I've never really done anything with, and now I'm getting into stamping again with the embossing supplies and having a lot of fun.

I love brads and eyelets, eyelets and brads, all shapes, sizes and colors! :-) Did I mention brads and eyelets?? ;-)

Carolyne in TX, getting glassy eyed here like a kid in a toy store

Last year when she first started making those and had no competition I remember them selling well in excess of $120.00!!!

M-C

Those are really cute! I'd want to join that swap!

M-C

Oh my gosh Mel. Those punched flowers are really beautiful. That really is a piece of art! I bet if you broke it down flower, by flower you could get it done. It's so pretty though, you probably wouldn't want it squished in a scrapbook!
