Brain cells come and brain cells go.... but fat cells go on forever

The hurricane will affect the economy of the US and that in turn affects the economy of the rest of the world. It is a global issue while Iraq is not for many countries.

Sabrina, a name change would be fine by me! Actually I haven't heard anything much this week. It was early on in the storm. Before we all knew how devastating it would turn out to be.

We are now up to 60 countries giving aid, even those that are not traditionally friends of the US. If nothing else, this is a tribute to the past generosity of the US government amd its people. Perhaps now, we will stop hearing people say things like, we give so much but no one appreciates us.

It is nice to know that even war torn Afganistan gave $100,000 while oil rich Kuwait who exists today because of Desert Storm, sent 1 billion! And I am sure there was everything in between. In addition, countries are sending rescue workers, doctors and nurses and so forth.

On another Katrina topic, when I turned on the TV this morning on CNN, I got to see what was left of the church where Rick and I did our premarital counceling and the Rev. Beau Roberts who married us in my MIL's home. He was officiatting on the slab where his church once stood. Apparently when Hurricane Camille came through the church was pushed of it's slab, but they managed to move it back. This time, with Katrina, thereto be only the railing at the front of the church left! It really is a weird feeling to see what that area looks like!

It must be really strange for you & everyone who has a point of reference for what the affected areas used to look like. I've never been to that part of the country, so don't have that POV.

My Mom did nursing training in NO, back in the mid-60's. Her and the other nurses were close to the French Quarter, if I remember right.
