Well, yes before arthritis started making my fingers stiff I did a lot of hand embroidery and crewel... and knitting.

I have seen some at stores such as World Market and Import Plaza, etc.

Yeah, sad.

Grocery shopping bags are getting to be a very big item around here. Disposables haven't been outlawed yet, but are frowned on, and more people are showing up with reusable bags. I made mine from canvas scraps about 25 years ago, and when washed, they're good as new, and many people have asked about buying some. Mine have no embroidery, no embellishment, just stripes that the fabric came with. But I think you could make some dynamite designer shopping bags, Beverly.

As fabulous as ever. The totes are terrific.

Here, plastic bags have been banned, paper is next.... We are so green we croak.

I don't make the actual bags, I bought several of the organic cotton totes at shoppersrule.com (way cheaper than I could do them for) and I've been going through the stash making bags for family members. I have to open up one side seam to hoop them (actually in this latest two, *all* the side seams), but that is really easy to close back up.

I forgot to put pictures of younger DD's tote with a fantasy dragonfly design

in her colors. She uses it every day taking stuff back and forth to work. I'll see if I saved a picture of it and add it later.

Thanks, Claire. Super easy, and fun to do. You might think about doing some for your shop.

Or embellished diaper bags... :-)

I can't imagine trying to embroider on fleece!

It took me a few tries to get the right combination of stabilizers. I use light weight tear-away under and Sulky Solvy on top. It holds the fleece down while stitching and tears off cleanly. I also try to color-match the bobbin thread, since the back will be seen.

Love what you do/ I always look and have a touch of envy for your ability to turnout such beautiful pieces.

Thanks Juno, but I cannot take all the credit: it's a collaboration between me, my machine, my digitizing software, and occasionally the fine folks at emblibrary.com/urbanthreads.com/embroidery.com/bfc-creations.com/etc. ;-D

It's still you. If I had all the same pieces I doubt I'd have the same success.

Me too, Juno! It takes more patience than I seem to have! Barbara in HOT SC

You would, with enough practice. I have not put pictures of my very early machine- embroidery work online. There is a reason for that. :-}
