A couple of new things.

I haven't been around much because my fall got off to a hectic start with a trip to Co. for my neices wedding, and then a visit from my sis and b-i-l, and then my daughter got sick for two weeks and spent a couple of days in the hospital. I'm sooooooo glad things are getting back to normal!

Here's my first peyote tube necklace:

My idea was to make an interchangeable necklace. That short tube comes off, and I want to make another one and embellish it. Seems like I could have some fun making different things to wear with the necklace. The beads are kind of irridized (rainbow?), which you can't really see with the photo. It's much prettier in person. I'd like to put some cones on the end, I think, but I didn't have any. I can always do that later.

I'm pretty happy with my first try!

Here's a millefiori bracelet that someone wanted me to make her. The funny thing was, I'd made the beads and was thinking of making a bracelet with them, using the sterling love knots. Of course, I hadn't gotten around to it, so I was happy that she asked me becuase I'd wanted to do one anyway!

And for those of you that remember Margo, the foster dog, she got adopted by my sis and b-i-l. They'd lost their old dog to cancer, and when I happened to mention that the reason I thought Margo didn't get adopted was because she was just kind of plain looking, I think that tugged on my sister's heart strings. (I always send her pictures and tell her about the foster dogs.) My b-i-l was set on a puppy, until they started talking about how nice it would be to have one that was already housebroken................. They arranged the trip to Co. so that they flew back to Ga. and then rented a car to drive home with Margo. Fortunately, it was love at first sight, all the way around, and she's been in her new home in Ct. for about 3 weeks now and doing great. Since their kids are grown, Margo is the new baby and it sounds like she's going to be spoiled rotten! Jerri

That's a really nice necklace, and the bracelet is wonderful too.

I'm glad to her that Margo found a good new home. Sadly, plain or ugly dogs go get passed over in favor of "cute" ones. We have what is quite possibly the ugliest dog I've ever seen, and no one ever wants to pet him or play with him except us!

Jerri - I started a tube necklace like that about four years ago - I think I have 5 inches done... LOL mine is a darker purple/irridized bead. I love yours...

And I LOVE that bracelet - those silver knots are very cool.

glad margo found a new home..... sounds like a perfect match (no housebreaking!) I didn't think Margo was "plain" -- of course I'm biased because your dogs remind me so much of my best friend Cindy's dog -- Snoop - they could have all come from the same litter... LOL

My son and future DIL just got a brand new puppy

baby Doxie... the named it "Reilly" - which I think is a stupid name for a dog, especially a girl Doxie... She's about 8 inches long right now.... and about 1 lb- so tiny! (Chris said he's always wanted another Doxie-- ever since we lost our Baron. Baron was long-haired - but Chris fell in love with a neighbor's shorthair about a year ago - and when this one came up - he couldn't resist.) She's very sweet -- but, of course, cried the entire first night - . they went to work on Monday - and my parents stoppe by the house to check on the puppy - and it was just miserable -it cried and shook for over an hour after they were there holding it... Of course, it is not used to being "alone"- poor little thing. Mom said she is going over there every day to check on the poor thing because she feels bad for it being alone and caged (they are crate training - and I don't care what anyone says - I think it's mean....) Tell your sis and BIL that's something ELSE that they bypassed with an older dog - all night crying! Cheryl

Thanks Amber,

Awwwwwwww, you're dog sounds like a lucky boy to have ended up with you!

I just wanted to stop people and tell then what a great dog Margo was. She was house broken and well behaved. I don't know if she'll stay well behaved. I'm afraid my sis and b-i-l are spoiling her rotten! Lol.

Awwwwwwwwww, Reilly is adorable! I'm glad you're mom's helping out. Reilly will get used to her new routine soon.

We had a dachshund, several years ago. I'd gotten her from the Humane Society. I'd love to have another one day.

I'd forgotten how new puppies cry. Lol. I'll have to remind my sister what else she missed.

And funny that you mentioned purple. I started another one and it's that irridized purple.

yeah..my dad found him running loose as a stray (he nearly ran over him, in fact) and stopped and brought him home. No one likes the poor little guy until they get to know him, then his personality more than makes up for his lack of good doggy looks.

Lol. Poor guy. If you have a pic, I'd love to see what he looks like. There are some that are so ugly that they're cute! And you're right, personality makes up for a lot!

I sure do like this necklace. And the idea of changing the short fat tube. This iridescent bronze, isn't it?

I would make several tubes. Diagonal stripes are real easy with peyote, as is a "lazy daisy". Very easy to eyeball, rather than follow a pattern.

And that color is gorgeous with lime green or an AB rosy orange bronze.

Thanks Tina!

The beads are an irridized dark amber. If I ever get my embellished tube done, I'll share that, too!
