Bar tack epiphany

Just refilled my bobbin. Then did 3 bar tacks at 12" each. Pretty soon I'll need to refill the bobbin.

Funny how that works.

Hey, what the trick to sewing lycra mesh without it bunching all up and everything? I'm sewing it down to some coated nylon. I've got a walking foot on.

Never mind. It turned out ok.

So give - what *did* you do to stop it bunching?

I did pin it, but I think the walking foot handled it mostly. It never really started to bunch anywhere, nor pull against the pins.

Great! :) Did you use a stretch needle?

Oh, ballpoint or thereabouts. No, didn't think of it, but this was mesh, much more air than thread, and the thread part was pairly loose. If that makes any difference.

Stretch needles are for stretch knits with Lycra/Spandex/elastane. They don't cut the Lycra, thus ensuring the fabric feeds better, and the seams last longer. Here's a thing about the different types of needle and their uses:

It's a rubber needle that stretches, of course.

I have one of those, but the holes it makes are too big.
