courdroi

Once i used to wear Courderoi, clothes than they sort of mooved out of fashion. TWO years ago i found somewhere a DREAM LIKE printed piece of `Cloud soft` courdroi , had an idea that it might be a vest or [winter] shirt . It is still in Cloth Form .... Which means i am not Completlu happy with the idea ,,, just thinking on line ???? mirjam

mirjam, Corduroy is making a come back! I've seen it on the bolt and as apparel on the rack!

I really don't know what to make with it....I've seen mostly pants made with it...but don't like them.

A-line skirt? The lines might be flattering...it would fall softly... especially soft corduroy. smiles, alicia in Hawaii

I used a kid's print of dreamy 70's like orange & beige flowered cordoy for a skirt last winter.

The skirt pattern: >

pattern has raw edge seams showing on the outside... Goes nicely 'raggy' when you wash it! Bit of a departure for this manic seam finisher, but a lot of fun, and it's had loads of complements.

Thank you. I've worked at it - and am still working! I shed 70lbs, but I've put 10lbs back on, so am trying hard to get it off again. Swimming tomorrow morning!

The fun thing about this pattern is that you can mix and match it: make the 'yoke' parts out of what you have and the lower skirt out of a toning one.

Thanks! It was a fun skirt to make and fits in well with all my orange and chocolate brown stuff!

I really love that pattern, all the wonderful angles! And you have been very successful in keeping your "figger", too. Congratulations!

My favorite jacket of all time was a hunter green, tailored corduroy jacket. I still miss it. I was younger then, and my hair was still red. Now it's almost completely white, except for a small strip in the back. I suppose hunter green would still work. But I love the printed corduroy, and I think it would make an elegant jacket.

One of my facoutite skirts was a deep moss green back in the '70's, and my best ever pair of jeans was bottle green. After brown, it was my best loved 'every day' colour.

My jazzy needlecord for that skirt came from here: >

's not cheap, but she stocks beautiful quality fabrics from German companies that we never see over here in the UK, and they are well worth the extra you pay. My c0ord washes a treat.

Dear Kate,

I love your skirt, and that was the fabric I chose, too when I went to look. I can't justify buying it yet. I really don't do very much these days that requires a great wardrobe.

My family used to tease me about my wardrobe--I liked it if it was brown. But I tried to tell them that when one builds a wardrobe around a few coordinated pieces, one has to choose a base color for the main items. I looked dreadful in black, sometimes went with grey, but usually went right back to the brown and earth colors. It could be the way I was raised, that redheads looked unseemly in bright colors. But I really love the rich, chocolately look of the brown family.

When i was smal , materilas were few, my mother sewed me long pants + a front of a sweater from corderoi , and she knitted the sleeves and back with a matching wool ,,, I was the warmest dressed girl !!! Our mothers at the time were extremely creative with dressing us up, from almost Nothing !!!! mirjam
