This week i visited Nahalat Benjamin in Tel Aviv , I haven`t been there in Years , but everybody told me it is a Fabric Heaven ,,,, and it is ,,,, I bought myself a silk cloth embroidered by hand in many colors, as well as beaded,. The black background is almost not seen it is covered with big white flowers and small colored [ mostly dark mustard and olive colored ,,, the embroideres , embroidered the outlines and inner lines of each flower [seprately and with another color] with yellow , light blue,mauve, red green threads , than they added paiietes in the middle of the leaves of some of the bigger flowrs and stem beads around some Flower hearts ,,, sometimes in an outer circle of the medium sized flower. The cost of the Bolt was quite high , but i was lucky there was a piece cut of which i could get for much less.. i knew this was My Skirt for the opening of my next curated exhibition. I really respect the people who make this fabrics.. The shops were full with the Most amazing embroidered fabrics. As we learned years ago ,, When there is a lot of poverty , people make and wear more Colorful adorned clothes . Thus i like the embroidered fabrics , but am not happy with what their existance tells me. mirjam
