silk ribbon tutorials and patterns

I've done a lot of silk ribbon embroidery and have never seen this rose! I've got several of Judith Baker Montano's SRE books and don't recall her mentioning it either! Looks quite lovely and relatively easy to do too!! Thanks for the link & CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I wonder what would happen if you did this with a strip of fabric? Maybe a bias cut to help prevent raveling- plus a few adjustments in the instructions? hmmmmm.....

I think you'd have to be very careful and go really slow when pulling a fabric strip through the base fabric. If you do this, for sure use a bias cut strip of fabric Use a large eye needle -- the large eye will make a bigger hole in the base fabric and there won't be as much wear on the fabric strip. Then again, it might look quite interesting to use a strip of fabric cut on the grain so that it does fray a bit for a different effect. Also, think about the final look if you use a fabric for the strip that is printed. The back side is much lighter and some of it will show. Something that has the color or print woven in will likely look almost the same on the back side. HMMMM -- sounds like the printed fabric might look better -- a bit more realistic. I explored the website and links a little more and found a really neat online class for a landscape quilt. I put it on my wish list. Currently I am signed up for a story quilt class locally for the same time as this is offered. I may decide to switch to the online class. Hmmmm...

I've wanted to learn for a long time, but would prefer taking a class where I could actually be there with the instructor. Then, of course, learning would take away from my quilting time so that's probably why it hasn't happened yet. :>)
