Inserting bobbin case

I posted a question regarding Inspiration 4210 inserting the bobbin case. First thanks for the prompt response. Do I need to remove the black plate that has 2 screws? The manual says that the top piece goes under the feed dogs and the bottom goes under the position plate Is the position plate the black thing that has the 2 screws? When you say that you wind it clockwise and counterclockwise, are you referring to the handle that moves the needle up and down? The piece you refer to that looks like an 'ear' and needs to be moved is it the little black piece that hinges out and back? If so, I am confused because I can put the bobbin case under that piece without moving it, so I'm not sure I am looking at the right piece Again thanks in advance

I'm willing to bet 5 bazillion phony bills that OP does not -have- the manual, or if s/he does s/he has never cracked it and won't now. Nor will s/he take the machine (probably a hand-me-down) to his/her dealer. Not does s/he HAVE a dealer.....

------------------------------------- SuAnn, I do have a manual and have looked at it in detail or I wouldn't have been able to use it for the year or so I have been. The page that explains inserting the bobbin has 2 pictures with NO words, except for the title, "replacing bobbin case". Than there are 4 boxes numbered 1-4 which illustrations which are not labeled so I'm confused to what I am looking at. Box 1 shows the black thing being turned with what looks like a screw driver. Box 2 shows the bobbin case with A & B and a short description that says "A" under feed dog, "B" under position plate. The last picture is the reverse of box 1 with the black hinge and a screw driver. It is very confusing becuase when I turn the black thing, I have to hold it out, so why would I need to turn it back in number 4 because it doesn't stay one way or the other. My sewing machine was a birthday gift from my husband from JoAnns so it was not a hand me down, even if it was who cares? I have a passion for sewing and always have, but I normally sew everything by hand. My husband bought me this sewing machine and it is a great one for my first becuase of the easy stitch length and type dials. My problem is awhile back I took the bobbin case out to retrieve a needle that fell and I was in such haste to get the needle out that I wasn't paying attention on what I did to get the bobbin case out. I have broken 3 replacements trying to get the machine back up and operational Sorry to bother you but this was the first site after all my googling that I felt had really informational posts and people really knew what they were doing and could help

googling that

what they

hello, fwiw - this sew group gets alot of trolls and passer-bys...

it is very difficult (error prone) to describe in "text" what you want to do. The best thing would be a picture. If i owned a

42## i would share a picture of the the bobbin case installed but i do not own one.

You may want to go to your retailer with a camera and take a picture of one of their machines ( probably any 42##) bobbin cases, that is if you do not have or want to go to a sew shop.

The manual, although illustrated, just gives a roadmap to installing the bobbin case.

If the finger that is suppose to twist out of the way makes no difference in holding the BC in then i suspect the BC is not fully seated or their is some other problem. That little tab/finger on the left is suppose to keep the BC in its rotary hook track and block the BC from hopping out of the rotary hook.

That BC and manual picture looks alot like my singer stylist BC you can see it here if it helps you ??
