Insulation

In your opinion ladies,

What is the best thinest insulation fabric for a winter coat?

Thanks, AK in PA

I had been trying to find sites where manufacturers of various types of insulation would post technical data about their products but I only found two. Others I either couldn't get anything other than it was used in a certain product, as an advertisement. And especially not a listing of where it could be bought for home sewing purposes. I ordered the ultra 200. I hope it's not too lofty for my purposes. But, because of the fibromyalgia, I am very cold and heat intolerant. Extra insulation in winter to keep the muscles from tightening, spasming to keep warm is a necessity.

Did your velvet dyeing meet with success?

You're welcome. I used Thinsulate years ago, and loved it.

Haven't done any testing yet. I'm hoping DD will join me on this venture. I have been informed DGD is not going to be dancing that particular dance until competitions in the spring, so I have some time.

I am dying to try Warm Window in a coat, snug sack, sleeping bag, or something to make it super-warm to use for when my thyroid is low in the winter and I feel like my bones are all little Blue Ices and I am freezing from the inside out.

Melinda,

What about having some blood tests done in the winter to see if your thyroid levels actually are 'off?' Tweaking of the meds may help....did with me....
