I acquired a "new" treadle on Friday - a Davis Vertical Feed. The patent date on the front of the tension knob is Sept 1916. Don't know exactly when it was made but according to internet sources the Davis factory switched from sewing machines to making Huffy bikes in 1924 so it was somewhere in that 8 year range. I was amazed to find that it has a 2 piece foot that walks (no feed dogs!) and a button to hold in to sew in reverse! It makes a beautiful stitch and I love treadling.
It just followed me home - honest!

Those are so neat! I've seen pix, but never got my toes on one. Not sure they made it over here! :)
I love treadles! Don't have one anymore, though---sigh. Barbara in SC ( now FL)
