I BOUGHT A JC PENNEY 6940 SEWING MACHINE AND CANNOT GET THE NEEDLE TO BE IN THE CENTER POSITION, PLEASE HELP!
IT STAYS IN LEFT NEEDLE POSITION.

After looking at the photo that Beverley provided it is not a left needle position machine so it is likely something is hung up in the automatics. Best you have your machine looked at by a professional
This is a left homing machine similar to some of the New Home Machines.
