Making a purse Contest

I am in a local Quilting Guild Contest. They gave us two pieces of cotton fabric and told us the rules are we have to make a pure, tote or hand bag using some or all of these two fabrics. We can add other fabrics if we want. We just have to use enough of these two fabric that they can tell they were used. It can be made anyway we want. It doesn't have to be quilted. I like to design and create unusual things. I have until June to make it. I saw a purse made out of a book. They didn't cover the outside of the book. I was thinking of covering the outside of the book. Then you lay it on it's side on your fabric and open it up to measure how far you need to cut the panel for the side opening. It looked pretty nice when it was done.

I made a purse out of all men's neckties and it turn out really classy looking. I always get complements every time I use it.

I was wondering if anyone as any ideas for an unusual purse or handbag. If you can show me a picture and describe how you made it I could probably make one from there. I might have to contact you with a few questions. I just want something different kind of off the wall. I think most of the ladies in the Guild will buy a pattern to make their purse.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

In a Red Hat group I saw a purse shaped like a watering can (perfect for our garden outing). The ones that look like a bra, bustier, or Daisy Dukes are cute.

IIWY I'd go for utility, and use the provided fabrics as bias trim or exterior pockets on a tote that's made out of goods you like that coordinate.
