maternity patterns

Well... I just found out I was pregnant. I was thinking about making myself some shirts, shorts, and capris and maybe some pants. Does anyone have any good suggestions for patterns or pattern companies that make some easy to follow patterns? I am not an expert, but have both sewing/embroidery machine and a serger. Thanks for any help. Sandy

Congratulations! Hope all goes well.

Before you launch into making a whole new wardrobe, do you really need to? You're only pregnant for 9 months and big for the last 4-5 months. For the first few months you can get away with wearing your looser clothes. I found out the hard way that wearing tight clothes exacerbated the nausea.

For the last few months, I managed to get by with my looser fitting tops and combined them with maternity pants and a skirt for work. At home I wore my husbands casuals! In Australia we can buy special elastic gussets that fit into the waist band of your regular clothes so you can wear them through the pregnancy. That way you don't have to buy/make a whole load of maternity clothes.

I have Simplicity 7309 (sizes XS, S, M) ans would gladly mail it to you. I have made only the vest but it was easy. Pattern has vest, tunic, pants, shorts, jumper (not Brit sweater, American sleeveless dress).

email me your address if you would like it, I expect no more grandchildren so DDIL needs no more maternity clothes.
