These are very cute! Do you have a pattern, or do you make them up as you go along? Linda PATCHogue, NY

I make them up as I go depending on the scraps that present themselve, usualy leftovers from cutting out the waistcoats. It depends on inspiration, or the lack of it.

The little ones with the tie strap were inspired by one I saw "walk past me" on someones sholder! a bit of fiddling and it worked a miracle realy. Thank you for the kind words.

The ones made from the tops of childrens jeans have a zip to close them across the top of the bag. The little bags are the ones I added the drawstring closure to. Adding a bandana could be a good idea if only to cover up the unpicking of inserting the zip!!!!! thank you for that idea.

Go for it with the cycling shorts I'd like to see the results.

Claire, Love the bags. I just cut a pair o f jeans down to make shorts for my 5yo DGD. I think I'll use the legs to make bags for her and her little sister. Thanks for the inspiration. Juno

You are most welcome. Did you see the storage pockets from a jeans leg? lower down on the same page.

Any bag pattern could use left over jeans once they are split and laid flat, the only limit is the size of the jeans I guess.

Yeah, me too. :D

Trouble is, they'd make a better laundry bag...and I'd be tempted to make them anatomically correct (all that muscle definition, you know!).

LOL. Thoughts of a terminator style laundry bag have flashed into my warped brain.

Sweet idea. I sometimes tuck a tiny teddy into the pockets of the plainer bags. I hadn't got as far as making a bag to carry a doll, I guess that comes from having 2 boys.

I did something similar and made water bottle holders. I added a circle at the bottom and a draw string around the neck area for the bottle. I made some with carrying straps. My husband wanted a flap to attach the holder to his belt. If I made them now, I would add fleece or some type of insulator. This would keep the water cool longer and keep the bottle sweat from coming through. We used these quite a bit before the commercial carriers were available.

I'm quite ashamed to admit that my thought was "Finally. A use for all those spare socks."

I agree with the insulation, cause I was always used to military Canteen covers, but one thing you might like to do is wet the covers then, since the evaporation of the moisture in the cover cools the water in the bottle or canteen. Kitty
