here is, at last, the link to some pics of what I made recently. It's, so far, only the tunic, but I hope that I'll get hold of the kimono pics, too. They all are on paper and I scanned them. These were taken by one of the sew girls from class (ha-ha, most of them are near or beyond menopause, so I hope they don't read and take offense of the 'girls' remark)
Oh yes, I will, but it still needs some fine tuning. I found that the arm scye is slightly too big, as is the front neckline. OK, for this one it's fine, but I think I'd rather start with a little more fabric there and then cut away if I feel like it. Moreover, the shoulder seams don't end at the shoulder point as I had intended. I strongly suspect that it's the fabric; it stretches terribly/very nicely. I guess you might as well use it for swimwear, it has just that kind of feeling, and it dries off very fast, as I had the chance to find out when a lorry baptized me generously with what a sudden downpour deposited on the streets a few weeks ago. My jeans were still dripping when I was able to put on the tunic again. ;-> Anyway, I'll have to re-assemble the toile and find the fault before I use the pattern again, I'm afraid. But I wanted to make a couple of - I forget what they are called - sleeveless tunics with wide arm scyes to wear over t-shirts from the same pattern. We'll see where I'll get this summer. Currently, I'm busy with some other textile project that drives me rather bonkers. So far, I'm at the second attempt but will have to frog stitch that one again. But I won't give up. ;-)
Thank you all around! Uh, the compliment about the smile is quite striking; I didn't notice that I didn't smile that rarely, but now that you complimented me on it - perhaps I should do that more often. ;-) Oh, and I felt so at home with the girls there; we always make fun and sometimes a bonmot escapes me before I notice and then I wonder if I really said it. I hadn't had that for ages; I guess the sewing class is just what the doc prescribed. ;-)
