Biz and it's wonderfulness

I went to an antique show over the weekend. For the princely sum of $9 I got a box of lace and dresser scarves and hankies from a lovely woman. I knew there were some pretty pieces of flat lace in there and entredeux as well. What I didn't know was there was a total of 45 yards of lace. 30 of the flat lace and 15 yards of the stuff pictured here.

I had to share what soaking in Biz for 2 days did for it. Guess what will be on the next white cotton lawn nightie?? lol

The other lace is still soaking. It was much more yellowed. Almost brown in some places. When it's as good as it's going to get, I will post pictures of it too. (can't have the before and not the after!!)

You scored!!! We used to soak white ribbon and lace in tea to make the color softer, sort of ecru. If the color were even, you wouldn't have needed to give it the Biz. Lovely stuff, either way.

LOL That was one of my first thoughts too!!! lol Also, I was glad to give this stuff a good home. The lady selling it all was very sweet. We had a lovely chat with her too.

I've seen tea dyed fabrics before. The other lace was so yellowed in places it really did look like it had been tea dyed. Just not evenly. Who know how old the stuff is or how long it had been sitting in an attic. It's coming along. I think another day maybe two and the rest of the lace will be looking much better.

Thanks, Betsey. It's really soft too. Feels like cotton lace. I have several ideas floating around in my head. We'll just have to see which one percolates to the top first. lol
