While this is true, you should also be aware that people post software cracks and digitized designs, both legal and illegal. It has also happened that people have posted virus downloads marked as digitized designs or other material. Beware.
I agree with you Penny -- the Yahoo group was just something I came across today -- hope I didn't step on any toes for mentioning this. Since I was the one who initially asked about posting binaries, I decided to post some test pics at both binary newsgroups a couple weeks ago, since some readers had one or the other ng, but not both. Perhaps we can post to both ngs so that everyone can access whatever ng their ISP accords them. We should not have any trouble crossposting to both ngs to post the same pics. This might be the best option for the moment, until someone creates an alt.sewing.binaries newsgroup (I can look into this but can't guarantee I will know how to do it) :)

I take this back... just looking at a few pages of newsgroup faqs this is probably more trouble than it's worth because we would all need to contact ISPs, subscribe etc etc

Yes, this a.b.p.c has very little traffic. The other one, a.b.c.p (very confusing with the names so similar!) has a lot of trafic including cracks and all sorts of copyrighted stuff. For the legal sharing we want to do a.b.p.c is by far the better choice! Oh, and that pullover look really nice!! Could do with one myself, actually! So many fun projects and so little time!
