I returned home from my trip to FL over a week ago and have posted a few lines to different posts since getting back home, but haven't had time to write about the trip. My Dear Sis, whom we saw at the hospital in MS. She is now home and doing well. She was discharged a week early, and I had to tease her, that it was because of our visit.
One DD taught me lots about digital photography, as in re-doing photos, getting rid of "red-eye", and so many other things. She took 2 classes in the spring semester at the local community college. Now I intend to take one of the photos I made of my siblings at the get-together in February, make it "look good" and print it onto fabric for throw pillows for each of us. There is nothing like combining my two hobbies, which I took up about the same time, when I was about 5 years old, using my DM's 1930 Singer treadle and a small camera, given to me by a cousin, who had just purchased a new one.
On the way back, we spent the afternoon with the nephew, who lost everything last year, & family, to visit and see their re-built home. Did those volunteers ever do a great job! Besides adding 750 square feet to the size for 2 extra bedrooms and a bath, to accommodate the 3 little boys they have accepted to rear, the builders revamped the kitchen-dining and laundry room. All that is left to do is connect the water lines to the house and hot water heater, which hopefully, they can get done this week and get the phone service restored. then they can say good-bye to the small FEMA trailers, in which they have lived for the past several months. For a family of 8, first there was only one trailer, built for 1-2 people. Later, they were finally able to acquire another from FEMA, so their children, ages 22, 20 and 14 shared one with my nephew, his wife and the three boys, ages 7,5,4 in the other.
I really miss reading the group when I am away from home, as I will be again in July, when I go to SC for a couple weeks visit with my youngest DGD and her parents. Emily
