This is great, Beverly. It might give her the impetus to do more traveling in Europe and perhaps more, and it will certainly be a story she tells her grandchildren or grandnieces and nephews in the far future.
I am listening live on the radio Beverly - a wonderful concert, certainly as good as can be heard by professional orchestras.
I hope they all have been having a blast, especially in the Royal Albert Hall. Before I moved away from the London area I was a dedicated promenader (those who stand for the concerts in the central arena of the hall) and was also privileged to sing there once as part of collaboration of school choirs. It is a very special place.

Arrgh! I missed it! No wonder, it's been so hot here today that I was completely off my rockers. DD was with DSIL so DH and I had the house to ourselves. We slept late, or at least as late as we could with the heat, and then took it very, very easy. Consequently, we missed the opening of an exhibition of my dad's. Well, it wasn't just him, it was one of the local visual artists' league or whatever that translates. He had two of his works in there, although no new ones. I just missed out that it had been the day. I had just been so happy to slump somewhere with no demands being made at me.
OK, enough of me and my shortcomings. Beverly, I'm sure you granddaughter did as excellent as she did in her solo, and that she enjoyed every moment there. She is a very fortunate creature, but the, luck comes only to those who work for it, doesn't it? ;-)

We assembled at DD's home for brunch and to listen to the live stream. I am in such awe that a group of young musicians, assembled for the first time less than a month ago, produces such fine music.
The entire group was taken to see Tosca at Mariinsky II in St. Petersburg.
I am so excited for her, at the same time that I am bereft that I missed seeing and hearing her in concert for the first (but surely not the last) time ever.
She has wings, she's ready to fly.
We all need an occasional day like that. ;-)
She and all the group work very hard indeed. DGD want to make orchestral performance her career. Having this experience under her belt will surely be a good thing.
It was an amazing concert! I sure hope the organizing group (Carnegie) is producing DVD's of all the performances.

A beautiful group and how fortunate to be able to take such a trip!
