When DGD moved into her townhouse last year, she painted one wall in her bedroom wall a scarlet red, and the other walls are light gray.

And way less expensive than a couple of the rugs I drooled over. Expensive rugs will have to wait until after my darling dog dies, he is not always able to "hold" it. :-(

Believe it or not, I am still using the Danish Modern (now called mid-century modern) couch, chairs and end tables we bought when we were first married in 1960. I have made new cushion covers twice, and replaced the foam once but the wood is in great shape and I love them. I'm thinking about making new covers again, at least for the chair. And I may give all the wood another Watco oil treatment, some of it is looking a little dry.

Whew! Today I DON"T need warmer. Expecting 95° F...

As much as I love red, I'm not courageous enough to put it on the walls. I have throw pillows, the rugs and other accents in jewel-tone colors.

I've been taking lots of pics, I'll post here when I get them uploaded.

Have you ever tried Howard's Feed & Wax on any of your wood furniture? It's an orange scented oil with wax that you can find in antique stores, and more recently, I saw it in Home Depot. I've been using it for several years now, and it puts a nice finish on wood -- not permanent, but it lasts a good while. It's a two step procedure, you put it on the wood, wait a bit then buff, but I've found it worth doing.

How long will it take to go from basket races to basket cases?

If I'm guessing right about Sharon's age, about another 30 years. ;->

Beverly, 70 and proud of it.

My furniture is all teak and walnut with a hand rubbed oil finish from the factory. Watco Danish Oil works perfectly.

time I did the couch was maybe 10 years ago. It's also really easy: Apply, let stand for a bit, sand with wet sandpaper until slick, remove excess with a dry cloth. I apply it to the dining room table top every couple of years.Beverly

Once I went to visit Grandma and found that she had hung one of her rugs on the wall. She said that her dog frequently sat on the floor and looked up at it longingly.

LOL! I much prefer female dogs, but fell in love with this little guy when we went to the breeder to pick one out. He is, in most respects, a wonderful companion. But he 'marks'. I have had three female dogs, and two males. I'll never have another male.

My dining room table is teak with an oil finish also. I have to oil it every 6 months or so. But that's because the kids are messy creatures. The more you have to scrub the table to remove someone's cereal from this morning, the more often you need to oil....which reminds me......

I'd have to borrow one that is smaller than mine. Either that or put the dog in there. Both the kids outweigh (and out height..) me now. That would give you an unfair advantage... Well unless I let them power the cart and I could be the ballast!!!! heh heh Did I mention DS is playing football at the jr. high this year?? ;)
