Pfaff 130 motor

Nov 11, 2008 3 Replies

I am the proud owner of my Grandmothers Pfaff 130 sewing machine. This machine was her workhorse. My mistake was in shipping it to Florida from Illinois.

The electrical cord sheathing has fallen off making it to dangerous to use. Can I just replace the cord or do I have to locate a replacement motor?

I do not like the Idea of replacing Granny's motor. Yeah I am sentimental.

Shouldn't be a big deal to replace the cord... I'm guessing about a $20 repair around here. DO NOT PLUG IN THIS MACHINE TILL THE WIRING'S BEEN GONE OVER. If the insulation is brittle in the line cord, it's probably brittle elsewhere, too. Fried sewist is not a good idea...

You no doubt have this fixed by now but you should be able to take it to a motor repair shop (yes they exist) and they can rewire it fo a reasonable cost. Some sewing repair people can do this and some can't so you might check that out. It is an easy repair!
