Problems covering velcro hooks (2)

Hi I'm doing a prenatal support of powernet and I want to cover the edge with elastic. The ends of the belt are made of velcro. When covering the Velcro hooks with the elastic these beyond the elastic and kneel.

Anyone know how to eliminate or reduce the velcro hooks?

I wonder if you could "shave" them off with a razor blade or sharp pair of scissors.

Excuse me if I failed to understand the problem (I do not speak Spanish) I don't know what you mean by "When covering the Velcro hooks with the elastic these beyond the elastic and kneel." in this context.

If the Velcro hooks are scratching the wearer can you cover the exposed part with twill tape, or grosgrain ribbon?

Or you might also experiment ***carefully*** with melting the excess hooks with an open flame.

Or just cut off the excess...

I'm with you, Beverly. I didn't quite understand the problem either. When applying velcro, I put the scratchy side facing away from the body and the softer side coming down - at least with baby bubbles and diaper covers. I do remember from 9th grade Spanish that sentence arrangement goes something like this: Throw the cow over the fence some hay. Doesn't help me with "beyond the elastic and kneel" though. Polly

Hello Beverly, first of all thanks for your answer ans sorry for my poor english I tried with google translator but wasn't a good idea.

What I wan to say is that the powernet belt is covered by an elastic ribbon of 1 cm width aprox arround all the perimeter. The end of the belt is maden of velcro. The problem is when we cover the velcro (hooks part) with the elastic ribbon. We can sew it but the hooks pierce the elastic ribbon and if the wearer put his hand on this part of the belt he will fell a scartch, sting, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Your English is fine, much better than my Spanish, which is none at all. ;-)

Have you tried covering the exposed part of the Velcro hooks with stronger stuff, such as grosgrain ribbon:

or several layers of twill tape

Covering the exposed hooks may solve the problem.

If you have some extra Velcro, test to see if you can melt the hooks with a flame, but be VERY CAREFUL. Do it outside, and have a bucket of water to drop it into in case the plastic starts burning.

Good luck,
