Score! Singer 99K

I just found an old Singer 99K at a yard sale, $10.00, very nice decal, the head in good condition. Haven't tested it yet. The seller assured me it runs. I'll try it later. It's a tiny machine, came in a simple, somewhat battered cabinet. How good a deal did I get? (Providing it runs, of course). It was my only find of the day. Cea

The 99 is a wonderful machine - it's the 3/4 version of the 66. It will take a hand crank, and is the hands-down favorite for starting young sewers on their way. The cabinet, if it can be cleaned up, is also a coup as there is a real shortage of the small cabinets. Now, go find a treadle base for a 99.

Hand crank, treadle, or electric? I love mine. It was my mum's, and the first machine I ever used properly. The FrankenSinger on my site...

Like everything else, value is relative; seems to fluctuate depending on where you live and also depends on condition and what bits come with it.

$55 is the top price I've seen one for sale retail around here but that one is in excellent condition, with perfect case, manual, and full set of attachments. I won't buy it, though...too much $$ IMHO and I've already had two given to me :)
