Adding motor to treadle machine

I have a Singer 29-4 patcher with original treadle, base, etc. Anybody add a motor to one? Like to communicate with you before I design something and "re-invent the wheel". Planning on variable speed but may have to settle for fixed. TIA JPBill here or direct: w snipped-for-privacy@charter.net

You might want to ask the TreadleOn or ISMACS groups (treadleon.net, ismacs.org), because those folks will have the expertise you are looking for.

It is done all the time, just use a smaller sewing machine motor as you do not want to much speed, will tear the machine a part. It will be a rube Goldberg job as far as mounting and then figuring out a belt, although you could shorten a treadle belt and use that.
