Sew vinyl tubing to nylon mesh?

I'd like to attach 1/4" vinyl tubing to a nylon mesh material that has

1/4" holes. My first attempt was to poke the vinyl through the mesh, but that takes a long time and causes the mesh to bunch up. My next idea is to hand tie the tubing to the mesh, but that would be time consuming too. I can make a jig to hold the tubing in it's spiral shape, about 4 feet of it, with holes to get a needle through to tie and knot with tiny cord. It may take 40 or more attachments to firmly attach the tubing. Just wondering if I can use a sewing machine to attach the tubing. The vinyl tubing will be carrying water, so it can't be punctured! So would a button attachment work? I could use a finer mesh if necessary, but it'll be strapped to a car seat and needs to be strong. Please reply to my private e-mail, snipped-for-privacy@gmail.com. Thanks!

How about using a strip of material let say 2/4" wide and lay it over the tubing and sew it down on each side?

You could make some piping with the tubing and then sew the piping to the mesh.

So that is a long strip of piping material where the width is roughly = ((3 x 1/4" tubing diameter) + (2 x sewing allowance width)), this could be anything you might imagine as useful such as polyester, nylon or even clear vinyl material if you need to be able to see the content of the tubing.

most times i see sewing with vinyl it uses 6-8 stitches per inch.

maybe someone else can adjust my idea if it is incorrect.
