The idea is not bad, but Wikipedia has a few articles about sewing and craft, and anyone can expand them and add more... Why create something separate?

mostly because it gets overwhelming for me, it covers the definitions but then i get lost when it comes to using wikipedia to find help. i think what i will do is link back to the wikipedia definitions and then have links to descriptions, how-tos, etc. to include pages i have created if i cannot find anything useful already online.
I tried it out because I thought it was a great idea, but I had problems. I looked up something simple, the word seam. It didn't take me to anything except a page that shows how to refine searches.
Did I do something wrong?

Currently the only page in the wiki is the homepage, hence the lack of a seam article. There is much to do...
@gyrlcentric On the technical side of things, what are you going to do for licensing? There are three ways that are commonly chosen:

The site contains limited information as it is a very new project. Until I have found other collaborators, it will go a bit slower than I would like but there should be more information added on a weekly basis at minimum. thank you for visiting :)
i use creative commons attribution share-alike. i had not added gotten around to setting it up since i had no content. that has been remedied as of this morning :) . thank you for the info regardless, it is appreciated.
