Singer 242, new timing belt

Feb 04, 2011 1 Replies

I acquired this delightful little Singer 242 machine at no cost! Cleaned, oiled, checked gears and greased where required. Sounds and moves great, good motor belt but needs timing belt. Have timed the needle-hook position on my Juki straight sew, but not sure about how to do it on the Singer with the new timing belt involved. Can someone give me a quick rundown on the process? thanks much, cc

I'll try quick.

After timing belt is properly tensioned. Align "hook timing notch" with "hook timing marker" and adjust hook=20 point to proper position.
