snaps question

I am making a cover for a twins boppy. It has a horse shoe shape and the base is foam. I am making a cover to be able to remove and wash when needed.

The Question: I am putting snaps on the outside edge to make it easier to take off. The outside length is 57". How far apart should the snaps be? Is there a general rule? Has anyone have a formula they use to place buttons or snaps. I do not plan on the whole outside being snaps but at least 2/3rds of it in the middle to make taking it off easier.

Thanks! Sandy

Had to look up "boppy"! ;-) Shows how long it's been since I had babies.

If I were making one, I think I'd use a hidden zipper, not snaps. But since I found a whole bunch in my search for under $10.00, I don't think I'd waste my time. If you do use snaps, probably not more than 3" apart. Or buy that snap tape stuff, with snaps secured to a sew-in tape, like:

Sandy, you can buy continuous zip by the metre. Slides come with it and I find it's great when you want something longer than regular zips.

Two 20" zippers would do the trick.
