Some help on repairing clothing

Sep 10, 2003 2 Replies

Hi there,

I've got a pair of pants with a tear in them. Since I'm a student, and don't have that much to spend, I'm looking for some instructions on how to repair it. I don't have a sewing machine, but i've got some experience with needle and thread.

The tear has this shape:

------------ | | | | and is about 3 by 4 centimeters in length.

Could you provide me with some advice?

I second what Cea told you, but I would also hand-sew the rip together before putting the iron-on stuff on with a figure-of-eight type of stitch (cross over at rip site and send needle in same direction on each side) to keep the back of it together.

Melinda, Cae, thanks for the advice! I was considering patches myself, and reading your posts I think it will be the best option. Now where did I leave that needle...
