It's a plastic Singer model 9005 stitches fine forward but backstitch doesn't do a single stitch. any ideas. Timing?

When was it last serviced?
Not likely timing if it sews well forward.
I'm looking for a repair manual for this machine or Singers in general. any suggestions?
