Victor Meldrew moment!

I DON'T BELIEEEEEEEVE IT!!!

GRRR!!! SNARL... grumpgrumpgrump...

I'm trying to sew a purple satin border onto a white satin kimono. It keeps sliding... Of course, as I'm doing this on the serger, after the first pass there is no seam allowance. I have finally got it on after three goes!

The thread broke once: just one of those moments when the gremlins unthreaded the right needle, you know...

Then the left needle fell out of the machine! ARGH!!! My Victor Meldrew moment!

I have re-threaded and gone away for a coffee.

The plasterers are here, and Sugar Puff gave them an outraged STARE when she found them in HER new conservatory, and went off up the garden again in a huff. I managed to catch her and she's now fussing for cuddles.

It sounds like you and Sugar Puff both need cuddles! Maybe earplugs and a nice chocolate truffle for you, too.

Next time maybe try placing a piece of tissue or tearaway stablilizer between fabrics. I'm working on silk and chiffon so know how you feel. We are gluttons for punishment. Ginger

I did - I think it needed glue! :( But fine flat headed quilting pins slide under the presser foot of the serger nicely! Just don't hit one with the cutting blades or needles...

Grumpy Old Man in TV sitcom. Very funny.

I get that too! But the screen is too far away for the reading section of the varifocals: that's good for the keyboard, reading, and hand sewing. The mid section is great for the sewing machine and the screen, and the top for distances beyond arm's reach. For threading needles (hand and machine) I peer over the top for maximum zoom! ;)

OK, no more trying to read posts without my glasses. Even though I had tipped my head back to look through "the reading part" that wasn't there I read the heading as "Victory Mildew Moment" and got all excited about finally getting out those irremovable stains.

I gotta go get my glasses, I'm getting too old for the disappointments following faux excitements.......*sigh*......probably look for some cocolate, too. And also quit thinking I can read with only two standard issue original eyes instead of the now required bi-focaled four. :o(

This extremely nearsighted person worried that as the arms shrank, or the focal point moved out, and the myopia remained the same or worsened, I would reach a point when I could see nothing anywhere. So far, with no glasses, glasses, both augmented with magnifiers on occasion, I can still manage to see. Must go have this cataract looked at soon, though. Then there are the "floaters." *sigh*

Ah, Floaters! The joy of adult eyes. My opthomologist tells me that those of us who have reached an age of maturity and intelligence are blessed with floaters. I tell him to stuff it. Juno
