What's everybody sewing for Christmas?

Some are like that, I guess. ;-) DH never sewed or knitted, but he was able to build/.repair just about anything electronic/mechanical and was pretty good at all the plumbing stuff, though he *hated* that.

Christmas stockings with 17 kids next week!

I don't know if I'm doing this right- I am new to sewing and newer to this group...as for what I am sewing for x-mas, I have just discovered that I can make a super cute apron so I am making a bunch. I thought it would make a nice family gift for my stepbrother's family- an apron for each parent, for the 2 older girls and a bib for the baby, along with a nice family/kids cookbook. I found this awesome cotton fabric on jcarolinecreative.com with Apples and Pears and it comes in 3 color schemes, perfect for this project. Brown for dad, light blue for mom and pinks for the girls. Add a bias tape edge and they're totally cute. I'm so excited, even though it's a really simple project, they will have a handmade gift from me.

I did a similar thing last year: I machine embroidered holiday motifs on the front of aprons for all the females in the family (six of us age 10 to 66) for the big Christmas Eve event. My mistake was in not doing the same for the guys. Major snits were happenin' all night. So this year, I think I'll try to find BBQ aprons, and embroider something appropriate for all the guys.

My daughter loves purses. I don't know how many she has, but she always "needs" another one. (I have to admit, I run a close second). Sooooo, I bought a BIG storage container. I've purchased 10 or so purses, and now I'm making some more to finish filling it up. Each will be wrapped, as will the container. Fun;>)

What a fabulous idea for a young lady, especially a teen, who thinks she needs at least for each outfit, depending on where she going. Emily-with three DGD, ages 21,18 and 8, all cousins who live in different states and can't share..

Simple gifts that come from the heart are always warmly received. Especially when most people think sewing anything is *hard* work, only you and the rest of us here know differently, and we wouldn't give you away! *LOL*

Gee I hope you are right, Candide.... I have just finished 6 pair of flannel pants, and have 3 "wooly-bully" caftans to make. Pants are for the boys, caftans for the girls. The reason I call them wooly-bullies is that they are made from 2 layers of polar fleece.

Anyway, the will indeed be gifts from the heart......for my Son, DDIL, DGD, and DGS. My other DGD wants dancing lessons......

This reminds me...One Xmas I made aprons with matching potholders for some of the family (not all cook) and some for dear friends. All loved them!

dear sewing friends, my chrisymas projects came to a sudden halt yesterday.i fell and broke my left shoulder so it will be awhile before i start again. what a pia. that's arm. I'll watch and read for awhile and put in my 2 cents worth when i can. right now I'm having sewing envy juno
