Dear Rachel,

It looks like home dec tapestry to me. Look in that dept at your local fabric store. We are bereft of good fabric stores where I live; but we have a new Hobby Lobby that carries wonderful home dec fabrics, and some of the best faux fur I've ever seen--had to examine it to see that it was faux fur. If you have one, try that, too.

It looks like it might be made from a tapestry type fabric. I should look in the dressmaking and upholstery fabric sections of your local Johm Lewises, or any good local fabric shop. You won't fond the exact fabric, but you may find something very similar. Us costumers use upholstery fabric for clothing a lot! :)

As for patterns, let me see...

This site has a good one, but you have to buy it and print it yourself:

You can make the coat any length, and making up a faux fur detachable collar shouldn't be difficult when you have the collar pattern available.

This looks like a great pattern that could be adapted:

may need the Curvy Girl sizes...

Hi

Many thanks for your replies. I will soon be seen lurking in the home decorating department in Bainbridge in Newcastle, probably looking rather suspicious too.

Be sure to pick up the cleaning instructions! These days John Lewises give you a ticket with care label info on it. See if Bainbridges do the same! And give Eldon Square my regards! (I was at Durham, and DH was born & brought up in Sunderland. I did my teaching practices in Houghton Le Spring, Consett, and 'Geeets'ead'! ;) )

Bainbridges is where I got the material for my wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses as well as other parts of my trousseau, all those many years ago!!!

Say hello to the department for me!!

Sorry about misspelling your name. You know I know how to spell it. My brain is just rather demented today after being assaulted on all fronts.
