Quite so. But to call a versatile and skilled woman sewist a "seamstress" makes her sound like a piece-work machine operator in a factory. I suppose "dressmaker" is the feminine equivalent of tailor; but I wouldn't object to a female tailor. And there are enough men who design womens couture, so I suppose there could also be male dressmakers. I suppose it only matters (to me) if there is an issue of income parity or disparity
