Boston paper cutter

I just got a really old Boston paper cutter. They were throwing it away because the cut is bad. It starts off good but as it gets down to the last few inches of the 11" paper,it won't cut. I have tried to tighten the screw and the nuts where the handle connects to the body. It hasn't helped. Has anyone had any luck with fixing or adjusting these guillotine cutters? I hate to throw it away.

Haven't fixed one, but here's the faq from the company website. If all else fails, you can email the company and see what they say. There's a "contact us" button at the top of the page.

I replace the blades on my guillotine style trimmer? There are no replacement blades available for guillotine style trimmers. Can trimmer blades for guillotine style trimmers be sharpened? That is not normally a good solution for a trimmer that does not cut well. If the trimmer cuts better at the top of the cut than at the bottom (or vice versa), the arm needs adjustment
