Alteration question

Feb 21, 2006 2 Replies

I need to buy some nice trousers. Before buying and coming up with a price point, I wanted to know how feasible it is to alter a nice (lined) pair down a size or two. I am at a US size 10 now but I am slowly losing weight. I have a good alteration shop where I get all of my items hemmed.

I appreciate any opinions on this. I do not want to spend a ton (to me) and then not be able to wear them in the future.

TIA,

Depends...what kind of closure (i.e. side or front zipper, button, etc) do the existing trousers have? Any darts or pockets?

I would ask at alteration shop you presently use if they might be able to do this and how much they would charge. It would all depend on how the pants are made. If there is a side pocket you might loose the use of said pocket. HTH Barbara in SC
