Crinkle Cotton gone flat

Hi,

I have made a skirt out of crinkle cotton, and since washing it, the fabric has gone flat. Is there any way of re-crinkling it?

Many thanks

Elizabeth

I usually just dampen them, and twist *really tight* (takes two people at each end), then allow to dry while remaining twisted (secure the ends with rubber bands).

Singer has the directions in one of their sewing books as do several other sewing and craft books. The Singer method uses the microwave to set the fabric. I would suggest looking in your public library if you don't want to have to buy the book, or Google for "Broomsticking Techniques" for other book sources. Good Luck! Cynthia

and if you can't find another person to twist with you :-), fold the waistband in 4 and hold between your knees, then keep twisting with your hands. Thin chinese silk can also be crinkled like that - so having a plain silk skirt is like having two - one day ironed, the next crinkly. Anna (change ombre to omberis)
