cl3 record lathe and kelton coring system

how do they work together? i emailed kelton and they told me that it would work ok but the motor might be a little weak. now that i have the coring system i figured out that the knife support that is meant to go into my banjo has a too wide diameter shank to fit in the banjo. is there some way to solve thisproblem? should i make the shank thinner? should i get a new banjo? if so which banjos work best for the record cl3? thanx ~B

I think that this translates to the post on the tool rest is too big in diameter to fit into the banjo. Correct? A good machinest should be able to fix it. I am not familiar with the record lathe, but if you have a 1 horse motor, it will handle the coring system without too much trouble. It will handle the small set of knives easily. The medium set will also work, but you can't be very agressive. If you have different speed ranges, use the lower range for more torque. The tool rest doesn't fit on some 12 inch lathes. I have done a number of posts here about the McNaughton coring system. If you have any more questions, look them up and or let me know. robo hippy

i use the system on the jet 1442... 1 hp 1 inch post... you have to know what size post your machine takes when you order the system.. Mac
