Hi Denis, I have the 6in. variable speed Delta grinder and it works just
fine for me. I had to do a little modification on the base due to the
mounting holes being in the way when I tried to mount my wolverine
grinding jig base. The base juts out so that the jig base can't be
centered directly beneath the wheel, so with a lot of grinding of the
base and new bench mounting holes drilled, it works great now. Also, I
removed the guards from the left side of the unit and now have an 8"
wheel to use with the wolverine. The 6" is also much cheaper than the
8" Hope this helps.

I think it is not the brightest idea in the world to operate a high speed
grinder without a protective cover.
A wheel disintegrating at 4000 rpm will act much like a fragmentation
grenade.
