Delta VS Baldor control on lathe.

Dec 01, 2004 3 Replies

Is there anyone with some experience with the delta lathe that has the baldor controller on it. This would be the steel bed lathes.

I have one and often when turning the thing off, the fault light starts blinking three times. Is this common and something to live with, as in yours does it too? Or is this something I should address?

I did phone delta but it must have been too late in the day but they will look into it as the person didn't have any knowledge of it. He was very nice and all, just didn't really know.

So I ask here.

Anybody?

John

I'm guessing that Baldor provides a manual with that controller and also that it could be found somewhere on the net. I suspect that it is trying to tell you about an under-voltage condition but the manual could confirm that.

Well the manual indicates it may be a voltage problem or a couple of other things. It recommends lengthening the de-acceleration time.

Sometimes it faults out running at 2700 rpm. Then other times never. So I am going to start watching the voltage.

Just wondering if it is at all common with others?

p2 adjusted ever so slightly and now it never faults out.

Or did a voltage problem go away?

We may never know but it is fine now. It had this quirk since new. Now I can run it max speed and then turn the speed right to zero and it doesn't fault.

Hmmmm.
